A little recipe help, please

So, I am getting serious about my 108 in 2008 list thanks to a very dear person in my life and I noticed that I have a lot of food items I am supposed to make.

I don't know if you know this, but I do not cook. Give me a frozen dinner and microwave any day. It's not that I can't cook, I just don't. And so I am reaching out to the Internets (yes, I am talking to YOU), and asking for recipes for the following items:

  • Homemade ice cream (I can totally borrow an ice cream maker if I need to. And, um, who has one I can borrow?)
  • Tacos
  • Bacon, avocado, lettuce sandwich (now, I realize there are certain ingredients that need to be used here - yes, I'm not that bad of a cook - but does anyone have any sauce/dressing/spread that would go well on this type of sandwich??)
  • Biscuits from scratch
  • Cake
  • Homemade bread

Me proving I can cook - though this was taken over a year ago while I was visiting my BFF in France.

The reason I am asking for recipes rather than searching on my own (which I have done, thankyouverymuch) is because I want recipes that have been made, tested and found to be very tasty. I really appreciate any help y'all can send my way. And any readers who have never commented before, please do so if you have a good recipe. I won't bite and I would very much appreciate it.

The best biscuits recipe you can make is on the Martha White self rising flour bag. Thats even how my Home Ec teacher in high school taught me how to make biscuits. I still use that recipe and my family loves them with gravy!

Here is the recipe for Restaurant Eve's cake, from Restaurant Eve here in DC. My instructor gave it to us in the cake baking class I just took and it was so good. It's delicious with a chocolate frosting :)

Tacos are a piece of cake. Just use the recipe on the back of the Taco Bell taco seasoning packages. I think it's like 1 lb ground beef, the package of seasoning and some water. Just brown the meat, add the rest and cook till hot. Then you just put whatever you want on the tacos. Easy. and thus ends my cooking knowledge. (I eat a lot of tacos) :p

I have a great icecream maker. With a ton of recipes. So you are welcome to it. Maybe could make some Christmas-time ice cream!

Hm. You've given me an idea. For the bacon, avocado and lettuce sandwich, you should turn the avocado into guacamole --- fresh, chunky guacamole, not that runny stuff that most restaurants serve. Just dice up some fresh avocado, a little bit of tomato, cilantro and maybe onion, plus salt and pepper.

This is strictly a theory, by the way. I've never had a bacon, lettuce and guacamole sandwich.

But how bad could it be? There's bacon on it.

You want Cile Borders home-made ice cream recipe - it's amazing!!!

Biscuits from scratch are super easy and I like the recipe from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook: http://www.bhg.com/recipe/quickbreads/biscuits-supreme/

I make the recipe as directed, but then do them as drop biscuits, I never cut them out. You can add cheese and/or sausage and they are super delicious!

Have fun!!
