I miss my family

Happy Hump Day! I'm really looking forward to the weekend for many, many reasons.

(i) I get to see my parents for the first time in a month and a half

(ii) I get to see my sisters and their husbands for the first time in a long time

(iii) I get to see these two precious angels for the first time in a long time

(iv) I'm taking my mom out for a special surprise on Saturday night, just the two of us

(v) I'm going to challenge my dad to a game of Scrabble and maybe convince him (it's not difficult) to make me his infamous pancakes...

What are you looking forward to?

Happy Hump Day

Ava has been staying with grandmama and grandpa while Steph goes back to work.

Wouldn't you want to keep her too?

Wednesdays are the most depressing day of the week

Wednesdays are the most depressing day of the week. Well, according to University of Sydney scientists.

You can read the full article about why Wednesday is the most depressing day of the week by clicking here.

Supposedly many people think that Monday should be the worst day of the week, but it's funny because I don't mind Mondays so much, but Kole and I agree that Tuesday is actually the most depressing day of the week. By Wednesdays, like today, I am quite happy to think that the week is half over.

Oh, and methinks that Ava has something she wants to say about this.

And you can't tell me this isn't one of (if not THE) cutest baby picture you have ever seen. Hopefully, it will help you make it through the 'most depressing day of the week'.

Happy Hump Day!

Dog Pack Attacks Gator

I found this article and thought I would share. It's not often you see dogs attacking a gator. This happened in Florida.

Dog Pack Attacks Gator

At times nature can be cruel, but there is also a raw beauty, and even a certain justice manifested within that cruelty. The alligator, one of the oldest and ultimate predators, normally considered the 'apex predator', can still fall victim to implemented 'team work' strategy, made possible due to the tight knit social structure and 'survival of the pack' mentality bred into the canines.

See the remarkable photograph courtesy of Nature Magazine below.

You will note that the Alpha dog has a muzzle hold on the gator preventing it from breathing, while another dog has a hold on the tail to keep it from thrashing. The third dog attacks the soft underbelly of the gator. Not for the squeamish.

Tee hee! My friend Mark sent me this in an email and I thought, I should totally use that as a Hump Day post! Forever the blogger. So, Happy Hump Day!

And for those of you who are not as easily amused as me, here are today's photos sent from my sister. Let us all ooh and aah over my niece.

Oooooh.

Aaaaaaah.

Happy Hump Day 3!

This photo is in honor of Katey, my dear friend, and the photographer.

I had just been asked to finish my sandwich in one bite. I think my face tells you what I thought of that request.

An oldie, but a goodie

So, ages ago I had a different blog - and not Brits and Grits - that is now defunct. OK, it was only like four years ago but that feels like forever. And I went and looked at it for the first time in many moons, and found a photo on it that made me giggle. A lot.

So, for the two readers from that era, the following photo will come as no surprise. And I'm posting it because it is Wednesday, the ever-wonderful Hump Day. And just because it's totally one of my favorites.

Happy Hump Day, y'all!

It's official

I have stressed myself crazy.

The following is from my loving sister, Steph.

I am not sure exactly how this works but it is amazingly accurate. The picture below has two identical dolphins in it. It was used in a case study on stress levels at the Mayo Clinic and later at Fletcher Medical Center in Burlington.

Look at both dolphins jumping out of the water. The dolphins are identical. A closely monitored, scientific study revealed that, in spite of the fact that the dolphins are identical, a person under stress will find many differences between the two dolphins.

The more differences a person finds, the more stress that person is likely experiencing.

Look at the photograph and if you find more than one or two differences; you just may need to take a vacation.

Happy Hump Day.

Happy Hump Day 2!

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children...to leave the world a better place...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

I have not become shallow, though my posts make me appear otherwise. I have just realized that laughter is the only thing that keeps me sane right now. And each laugh to me is a small victory. I hope you have a lot to laugh about.

Happy Hump Day!

I have the best boss. No. Seriously.

For instance, today I have been silently craving Thai food all day. Silently, mind you. And just a moment ago my boss buzzed my office and told me to come into his office.

He said, and I quote, "You know what I am really craving today? Thai food. Does that sound good to you?"

I mean, how many bosses can read your mind?

**Check back sometime later this week for one of my 'infamous' restaurant reviews. We are trying a new place today!
